Another Busy Week for the Mayor

This week the Mayor will be out and about once again fulfilling his official engagements.

The Mayor, who began his mayoral year in May, will next week attend the St Wilfrid’s Nine Lessons and Carols Service at Blackburn Cathedral, along with the Mayoress, on Tuesday along with the Mayoress, attend the Westholme Senior School Carol Service at Blackburn Cathedral, along with the Mayoress, on Wednesday, to attend the Lancashire Telegraph Carol Service at Blackburn Cathedral, along with the Mayoress, on Thursday, to visit the Royal Mail Delivery Office, to attend the funeral of Former Mayor Jim Hirst, along with the Mayoress, on Friday, to attend the Old Blackburnians Dinner at QEGS, along with the Mayoress, on Saturday, and finally, to attend Festive Family Fun Around Witton Country Park, to attend the Annual Civic Carol Concert in the Windsor Suite, along with the Mayoress, on Sunday.

Parents urged to ‘stick together’ on road safety

Darwen Children’s Centre hosted a road safety event last week as part of an ongoing campaign to ensure that the simplest road safety measure of all – holding hands – keeps more children safe on the streets of Blackburn with Darwen.

Hospital showcases urology surgery robot

Minute’s silence for victims of the Paris terrorist attacks

The Union Flag will fly at half-mast outside Blackburn Town Hall and Darwen Town Hall  today (Monday 16 November 2015)

Council leader Mohammed Khan will lead a minute​’s silence on the Blackburn town hall steps at 11am as part of a Europe-wide mark of respect and solidarity, in remembrance of those who lost their lives.

Hundreds remember the fallen

Hundreds of well-wishers turned out to Remembrance Sunday services across the borough at the weekend.

And it was a very special occasion for former prisoner of war, 95-year-old Alf Davey, who was made VIP guest for the United Service of Remembrance held at Blackburn Cathedral and the wreath-laying at the Corporation Park Gardens.
