Failure to dispose of rubbish properly leads to prosecution

A woman has been ordered to pay a total of £365 for failing to dispose of rubbish properly Mrs Shugufta Patel, of Wensley Road, Blackburn was served a notice under section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which required the removal and disposal of the waste which was found close to the rear of a properly, in a legal manner.

VE Day commemorated across the borough

Several events took place across the borough as Blackburn and Darwen commemorated the 70th anniversary of VE Day, the date when victory in Europe was declared following years of conflict during the Second World War

Taking place on Friday, 8 May Outside both Blackburn and Darwen Town Halls, ceremonies took place which included the observing of a two minutes silence at 3pm, which the Blackburn Town Hall ceremony being led by Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Cllr Alan Cottam.

Free health and wellbeing event

Representatives from the £1m project to transform cancer care in East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen will be on hand at a free health and wellbeing event at Accrington Town Hall this Wednesday, May 13 taking place from 10am-2pm.
