Bulky waste collection scheme continues

Residents will have the opportunity to dispose of any of their ‘bulky’domestic rubbish free of charge this Saturday, with staff and caged vehicles on hand to at four locations throughout the morning, as the council’s free Saturday morning bulky waste collection scheme continues.

Visitors to this year’s Christmas lights switch in Blackburn will be seeing double !

X factor twins Jedward – otherwise known as John and Edward Grimes – will be flicking the switch on November 20 outside the town hall in King William Street.

Two Community Wellbeing Co-ordinators talk about the work they have done within the community.

Sonya Rustidge, whose role covers Blackburn West, and Jackie Cumpstey who works across Blackburn East, have enabled residents to get involved in activities such as coffee mornings, cookery sessions and tea dances, helping those who may feel isolated.
