The Council’s Public Protection team has received a number of complaints that a small number of premises may not be following social distancing guidelines and could be putting people at risk.

People are being warned about a series of scams related to the coronavirus.
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) has issued the warnings after reports that scammers are targeted people both in person and through technology and through price rises in shops.

Blackburn with Darwen Council is continuing its crackdown on people dumping rubbish in the borough.
The Council secured half a dozen prosecutions in December for offences ranging from dumping rubbish in back yards to traders leaving waste on land around the towns.

Owners of a Blackburn Shisha bar pleaded guilty to smoking offences.
Rizwan Aiyub Adam (28) and Ikram Adam (30), who own Dahna Lounge in Barton Street, Blackburn, were fined £2,860 with additional costs awarded to the Council of £1,100.

Careless drivers and inappropriate parking are being targeted in a new campaign in Blackburn and Darwen
A partnership between Lancashire Police and Blackburn with Darwen Parking Services, will see mobile patrols observing traffic to curb irresponsible driving and irresponsible parking that can put other road users and pedestrians at risk.

A crackdown on illegal tobacco has taken place across the borough.
Four shops were targeted following investigations carried out by Trading Standards staff working within Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Public Protection and Environmental Health teams and were in response to complaints from members of the public.

A Blackburn food company has been fined more than £3,000 for food hygiene breaches.
Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Public Protection team found that Blackburn-based Azalea Foods Ltd had unhygienic crates at the industrial unit and had no hot and cold running water on the premises.
