Primary school children in the borough have attended swimming lessons over 27,000 times in the past 12 months, with a huge focus given on water safety.

A four-week public consultation around the future of Daisyfield Pools in Blackburn is now open.
Anyone who would like to express their views on the closure of the swimming facility in north-east Blackburn is welcome to complete Blackburn with Darwen Council’s online survey.

Nathan Hibbert, 21, has been given a career boost thanks to a volunteering scheme at Shadsworth Leisure Centre which has helped him train as a lifeguard and gym instructor.
