While Covid case rates in Blackburn with Darwen remain lower than the national average, the numbers of people needing hospital treatment for their symptoms is increasing – particularly among people who are not fully vaccinated.

Blackburn with Darwen’s Director of Public Health is urging pregnant women to come forward for vaccination as soon as possible after a rise in pregnant women admitted with severe Covid-19 infections to Royal Blackburn Hospital in recent weeks.

Local health bosses including GPs, commissioners; Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, Councillor Mohammed Khan and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Husain Akhtar, attended an open evening at the Royal Blackburn Hospital recently to see East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust’s newly acquired Urology Robot in action.
