The world’s largest coffee morning is coming to Blackburn.

Launched in 1990 the Macmillan coffee morning has raised millions of pounds for the Charity and has allowed Macmillan Cancer Support to provide often life-saving and invaluable care to thousands of families and patients to overcome and understand life threatening and terminal diseases.

New housing with care development for older people in Darwen

Plans for an extra care scheme with adjacent bungalows are being developed which will improve housing choices for older people who want to continue living independently, together with care and support services to help them to do so.

Residents’ views are being sought on a Masterplan for the Gib Lane area in Blackburn.

A consultation is being launched on Monday, August 11, on a Masterplan for the land between Gib Lane, Broken Stone Road and Livesey Branch Road, to become a distinctive and high quality housing development site in the draft new Local Plan for Blackburn with Darwen.

Get ‘on board’ at new skatepark!

The state-of-the-art indoor BMX and skatepark is set to open in the borough next month. The £60,000 park will be the first in the borough, based at Junction 4 off the M65, and it aims to become a regional centre for the sports. To mark its location, the skatepark will be called Junction4.

Improved Blackburn – Manchester rail services on track

Improved rail services between Blackburn and Manchester moved a step closer today as the Council leader and local MPs lent their support to an agreement between Network Rail and Blackburn with Darwen Council to construct a new section of track which will allow more trains to use the route.

Blackburn with Darwen Council secures thousands of pounds of funding for sports facilities

The Council is delighted to have been awarded £150,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.
