Blackburn with Darwen Borough Councils Gladstone’s View Project secures Heritage Lottery Fund support

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has received initial support for a Townscape Heritage bid from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the Gladstone’s View, Northgate Townscape Heritage Project, it was announced today.

Two areas of Blackburn have seen new improvements following investment of section 106 monies.

Approved by the Council six months ago, local communities have this month taken delivery of new improvements that have been funded from larger local developments in both Shear Brow and Bastwell respectively.

Annual Christmas ‘works’ break set to boost Blackburn festivities

This Christmas is set to be a fun filled busy time for Blackburn Town Centre.

Following on from last year’s successful embargo of road and maintenance works, the Council is pleased to announce that the same will come into force for its entire works between December 5th and January 5th.

X factor twins Jedward – otherwise known as John and Edward Grimes – will be flicking the switch on November 20 outside the town hall in King William Street.
