Over half a million allocated to upgrade the borough’s roads

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council have been awarded a total of £555,185 from the Department of Transport to improve the council’s traffic signal systems as part of ‘The Traffic Signal Obsolescence Grant’, which will have a positive effect on roads across the borough.

New plans to improve traffic and boost business around Haslingden Road

Planning applications have been submitted for two major road improvements in Blackburn.

The planned work will see Haslingden Road widened between the Beehive Roundabout and Royal Blackburn Hospital and the creation of a new entrance to Royal Blackburn Hospital at Old Bank Lane.

New link road to boost growth and housing in Darwen unveiled

New £3.5m East Darwen link road Ellison Fold Way has been officially opened.

It was unveiled in a special ceremony attended by special young guests from the nearby Sudell Primary School along with Councillors, contractors Eric Wright Civil Engineering and partners from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership in the project.
