Due to a reduction in air pollution, it’s been proposed that an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in Blackburn South and Lower Darwen is no longer needed.

A consultation into home to school transport has been extended.
Discussions started in March on bus fare levels from September 2016 for all pupils at schools in Blackburn with Darwen who do not have a statutory pass.

Residents’ views are being sought on a Masterplan for the Gib Lane area in Blackburn.
A consultation is being launched on Monday, August 11, on a Masterplan for the land between Gib Lane, Broken Stone Road and Livesey Branch Road, to become a distinctive and high quality housing development site in the draft new Local Plan for Blackburn with Darwen.

Blackburn with Darwen Council has submitted its new Local Plan to the Government for examination.
A planning inspector will now examine the document over the few months with hearing sessions taking place in Autumn.
