Queen’s medal honour for devoted community worker Nan

One of the nation’s highest accolades has been awarded to leading Blackburn volunteer Nan Goodall.
Nan was given the Queen’s British Empire Medal for her years of community work in Blackburn and Darwen, especially for setting up Blackburn with Darwen Carer’s Service.

Everyone welcome to fun day for new look park

A fun day is being held to celebrate the revamp of a popular Blackburn park.
Roe Lee Park has undergone a £65,000 facelift with new play equipment being installed, including two new climbing frames, a see-saw, basket swing, rotating saucer and new flooring.

Golden bolt for autism centre

A ceremonial golden bolt has been fitted to Newfield Autism Centre, which is currently being constructed in Blackburn
The £4.8m specialist autism centre will accommodate 60 pupils, is being built next to the existing school on Old Bank Lane and is expected to be completed in February 2018.
