A new launch aims to bring people and communities together to take a stand against scammers – in Blackburn with Darwen and nationwide.
Friends Against Scams is a National Trading Standards (NTS) Scams Team initiative to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams by empowering communities to “Take a stand against scams”.
Anybody can join Friends Against Scams and make a difference in their own way.
It has been created to tackle the lack of awareness of rip-offs and to change the perception of scam victims.
People who are scammed often experience, loneliness, shame and social isolation. The Friends Against Scams initiative is designed to give power to communities and organisations by providing information about scams and those who fall victim to them.
This information helps communities and organisations to understand and talk about scams and turn that knowledge into action by taking a stand and spreading the prevent and protect messages throughout communities.
