Council supports drive on rapid testing for businesses

Blackburn with Darwen Council is backing a new Government coronavirus testing drive aimed at businesses.

The Government is aiming to increase workplace testing in sectors still permitted to open during lockdown, to detect Covid-19 in staff who are not currently showing symptoms

The Council has already launched a successful SMART programme for rapid testing aimed at residents without symptoms who have to leave home to work or live near the various testing hubs that have been set up.

More community testing venues open up

More community venues offering residents access to rapid coronavirus tests are opening up this week.

The extension to Blackburn with Darwen Council’s SMART testing programme – aimed at people without coronavirus symptoms – sees new temporary community venues joining the list of other sites offering rapid lateral flow tests across the borough.

Symptom-free coronavirus testing comes to the borough

Community urged: “If you have to leave your home to work during lockdown: get tested.”

Residents in the borough can now get tested for coronavirus even if they don’t have symptoms, with the opening of two walk-in venues offering ‘rapid SMART testing’ from today (Monday, January 11) – no appointments are needed.
