Council issues update as local testing capacity improves

The Council has issued a latest update on coronavirus testing in Blackburn with Darwen.

Testing capacity has improved at our sites across the borough and we are again reiterating that – if you have any symptoms of coronavirus – you should get tested as soon as possible.

Booking first is still advised but if you are having problems accessing appointments with the national online system you can get tested at our two walk-in testing sites at Railway Road in Darwen and at Blackburn College without registering first online.

Just walk up to either site during their hours of operation, 8am–8pm, seven days a week. Please follow public health guidelines around social distancing and face coverings when onsite.

We are not currently encouraging those without symptoms to get tested.

Appointments for the permanent testing site outside the Royal Blackburn Hospital are available via the national system.

You can register and book online or call 119. The registration process takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. This provides you with an appointment.

The Council has updated its website with the latest information which is being regularly reviewed and updated.
