Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre and Witton Park Arena are gearing up to reopen.
The Council has been lobbying the Government for our gyms and sporting facilities to reopen since the national easing of restrictions, including the eight areas designated as a protection zone.

The new refurbished £320,000 athletics track has opened at Witton Country Park.
Members of Blackburn Harriers braved the cold to be the first to use the upgraded facility which was funded by a Sport England Inspired Facilities grant of £150,000 and £170,000 from Blackburn with Darwen Council.

A new £2.3m community athletics facility at Witton Park, Blackburn, has opened. The fantastic Witton Park Arena includes an indoor 60m warm up/training track (6 lane), new changing facilities, a covered outdoor spectator terracing and a club room.

The Council is delighted to have been awarded £150,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.
Martin Eden, director of Leisure, Culture and Young People at Blackburn with Darwen Council, welcomed the news and said: “We are delighted we have secured £150,000 of funding for the borough’s sport facilities.
