World food event gives tasty start to a new community group

Called Communities of Blackburn, the group is working in partnership with Your Support Your Choice to celebrate belonging and diversity in Blackburn with Darwen.

The group hosted an international buffet, filled with delicious delicacies from around the world, covering four continents and 15 countries, at the Your Support Your Choice building opposite Blackburn Central Library on Town Hall Street.

The dishes were made by a group of hard working volunteers who aim to bring communities together through our shared love of food.

Their mission is: “Creating a space for togetherness and belonging, celebrating diversity in Blackburn with Darwen.”

Ben Pearson, Project Co-ordinator, said: “It’s exciting the launch is here, all members of the group have worked so hard to get to this stage and this will be an opportunity to celebrate this and allow us to share our vision with a diverse group of people over some great food.”

Your Support Your Choice is a free information and signposting service based in Blackburn helping people live well and independently by focusing on improving mental health and wellbeing.
