Even if you’ve never been on a bike before it’s never too late to start. The Witton Park Community Cycling club offers one to one instruction for adults and young people.
Why not pop down to Witton Park to find out more about exciting cycling opportunities for all abilities and ages. Free expert advice is available to help you improve your bike handling skills. Bike hire is even available for people without access to a bike.
The club is supported by British Cycling, with Coach, Dylan Clayton, a former World and European BMX Champion, assisting staff at the Witton Park Cycle centre to deliver skills sessions and rides.
The Club has been established thanks to the Council’s Connect project and re:fresh.
James Syson, Transport Strategy Team Leader for Blackburn with Darwen Council said: “I am happy to see that the club is back up and running this year and I hope to see more people benefit from this scheme.”
“A loyalty card has also been created to help instructors know what standard people are at and to help them progress to more challenging cycle rides. The card also enables people to claim exciting giveaways from British Cycling.”
Last year the cycle club helped a visually impaired Blackburn College student Raeesa Jaffer who lost her confidence after being involved in a cycling accident a number of years ago.
She has now been given the confidence to get back on her bike.
The days and times of the sessions are Wednesday and Thursday 4pm-8pm.
To book a session time please contact Tember Walsh on 07966 776114.

Next week will also feature the first Walk to Work day of this year. Starting from Witton Park at 8:15am on Friday, May 15.
Last year people decided to have meetings while walking in to work which proved to be very popular. Prizes are up for grabs for people who Tweet or email pictures of their journey to @Connectbwd or holly.nicholson@blackburn.gov.uk
The event is being organised by CONNECT, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s sustainable transport scheme. To register for this event email holly.nicholson@blackburn.gov.uk
