A new Covid-19 testing site for people with symptoms has opened up in Blackburn today (Wednesday, August 25th.)
The site, at Penny Street in Blackburn town centre, replaces the long-standing walk-in centre on the car park at Blackburn College, which has now closed.
Appointments at Penny Street are available to book via the NHS / 119 or by walking-in.
For the first three days of operation it will be open: 10am-8pm (Wednesday 25th), 8am-8pm (Thursday 26th), 10am-8pm (Friday 27th).
The site will then operate from 8am-8pm seven days a week.
Testing is available for anyone with Covid-19 symptoms, or anyone who is worried or has any doubts about any possible symptoms.
The permanent testing site for those with symptoms at Old Bank Lane, outside the Royal Blackburn Hospital, remains open as does the site at Railway Road car park, Darwen (open 8am-8pm.)
Free, regular, rapid coronavirus testing is also still available for anyone without symptoms.
Rapid tests using lateral flow devices are available from:
Community Help Hub (in the Mall, Blackburn) Open: 9am-5pm (Mon-Fri)
Work at Over Darwen House Open: 8am-4pm (Mon-Fri)
The Council is encouraging everyone to ‘Test and Go’ by getting a rapid test before visiting the shops, pubs, restaurants, hairdressers and before meeting up with friends and family outside their household.
