A Shisha bar in Blackburn was found to be breaking coronavirus regulations after police raided the premises.
On Sunday, November 8th, police officers visited Cube in Darwen Street, Blackburn, following reports that the current Coronavirus Regulations were being breached.
Officers found 23 people inside the bar in a breach of the current regulations. All 23 people were issued with a £200 fixed penalty notice.
Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Public Protection team are in discussion over further action to take against the bar for the flouting of the rules.
Councillor Jim Smith, Executive Member for Environment, said:
This is a pretty serious breach of the current rules and it is really disappointing to find that some people are still meeting up like this. We are in a national lockdown in an attempt to get the spread of the virus under control and situations like this make it very hard.
The owners can expect further consequences as a result of this act of stupidity, and as we can see with the penalties handed out, people who act this way will be caught and could find themselves with a sizeable fine. People need to think about their actions and follow the rules for the good of everyone.”
