Indoor bowls league donates to Mayor’s Charity

Three-hundred older residents who take part in a winter league for indoor bowls have donated the proceeds of their Christmas raffle to be donated to the Mayor’s charity fund.

This year the charities benefiting from the fund are East Lancashire Hospice, and SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association).

Cllr Alan Cottam, Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen said:

It is greatly appreciated that the league decided to donate this to the Mayor’s Charity Fund, and the money will go towards the East Lancashire Hospice, and SSAFA (Soldiers Sailors and Airmen’s Families Association) which are both extremely important causes who do great work.

I know that this donation, as with all others that have been made during my time as mayor, will make a real difference to many people.
