Councillor Mohammed Khan has issued an update on coronavirus testing.
As has been well documented, and the Government has acknowledged, there have been issues with the national testing system which have impacted on testing capacity and booking appointments.
We know these problems have caused concern and confusion and we have constantly sought further clarity and tried to keep you updated.
To that end we have been informed that we will be losing our mobile testing unit at Corporation Park. Today is its last day on site (Thursday, October 8.)
Whilst we understand the need to reprioritise resources to other areas struggling with capacity, this is disappointing and I am seeking more clarity into why this decision has been made.
Our local testing provision now includes the permanent site outside Royal Blackburn Hospital and the two walk-in testing sites at Railway Road in Darwen and at Blackburn College.
Testing capacity has improved locally and it’s vitally important to get tested as soon as possible if you have any symptoms of coronavirus.
The Council has updated its website with the latest information on how to access tests. This is information is regularly reviewed and updated.
