Looking for some great activities for all the family during the summer holidays? Then check out Witton Country Park, as Countryside Services invites you to join us during August.
On Thursdays you can meet up with the ‘Green Gym’ for conservation work, as they meet at the Sport turf Car Park for 9.45am and venture into the park working on a variety of projects from repairing footpaths to planting trees.
The group welcomes families, (children under 16 must be supervised) its great fun. All equipment and guidance will be provided by the group, just turn up for what is a unique opportunity to get active. For the keen walker or even beginners, Countryside services offers guided walks throughout the year.
Offering a great chance to explore Witton Country Park discovering the history and the beautiful West Pennine Moors as part of the Witton Weavers Way.
The Weavers Way is a series of walks discovering the wonderful countryside and takes a look at the Heritage of the locality.
On Wednesday August 13, for the more experienced walkers you can just turn up for 12.30pm at the Pavilion, as we do the ‘Beamers’ Walk. The walk will take in some fantastic views over its 6 mile of countryside , which starts and finishes at Witton.
The walk will feature amazing views as we take a break at the Wainwright Memorial stone at the highest part of the Park, Where you can admire the views across the county and further, just as young Alfred Wainwright did, out exploring the wonderful local countryside around Witton!
