To mark the launch of the garden waste scheme for 2021, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is offering an early bird discount of £5 if residents sign up before February 1st.

Residents who claim the offer and will also be entered in to a free prize draw.

Three lucky winners will each get a full refund – meaning their brown bins will be emptied free for a whole year!

The annual subscription prices have been frozen for 2021 making it just £25 with the discount or £30 without.

The service offers residents an easy way of getting rid of their garden waste – including grass, hedge cuttings, weeds, clippings, plants and flowers, animal bedding, branches and twigs.

Councillor Jim Smith, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council’s Executive Member for Environment, said:

Last year, 14,000 residents signed up to the scheme which offers an easy, clean and time-saving way of getting rid of garden waste.

It’s an optional service and we have kept the cost as low as possible – one of the lowest in the whole county – and once again we’ll be offering the early bird discount of £5 too.

We’ve also launched a competition with three lucky residents getting a refund of their annual subscription and their bins emptied for the whole year for free!

The annual subscription offers:

• A large brown garden waste bin(s) delivered to you (if you don’t already have one)
• Collection every 2 weeks except during December, January and February. You will be sent a collections calendar and bin identification sticker when you sign-up.
