Your chance to have your say about the borough’s roads and transport services

Local people are being asked for their views on the borough’s highways and transport services; from the condition of the roads and footpaths, quality of cycling facilities and public transport.

Blackburn with Darwen Council is one of 110 local authorities to sign up to the annual National Highways and Transport (NHT) Survey.  It’s a standardised survey which asks residents the same questions whether they live in Blackburn, Blackpool or Birmingham.

The survey gives residents the opportunity to rate the services appropriate to them.  The scores will help the council identify what is important to residents and where improvements could be made.  Participating councils are able to compare results and share best practice.

There are seven different surveys including; accessibility, business, users, highways maintenance, public transport, road safety, tackling congestion and walking & cycling.  The council would like residents to spare a few minutes to complete the surveys which are most relevant to them.

Councillor Phil Riley, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, said:

This survey gives residents the chance to have their say and have their views heard.  It’s their chance to tell us what matters, what we are doing well and where we can make improvements.

We want to be able to offer the very best service possible and the results of this survey can help that.  The surveys are also an important tool in helping us secure additional Government funding which is vital.

They don’t take long to fill in and so I’d encourage all residents to spare just a couple of minutes to take part.

A paper version of the survey has already been sent to a random selection of 3300 households and the Council will get the results of this survey in October.

But now everyone has the opportunity to have their say by completing the online surveys, available by visiting the council website www.blackburn.gov.uk/nhtsurvey

The online survey links will remain live until February 2021 with the council being able to access results from mid-November onwards.
