Highway works are due to take place at Earcroft over the next four weeks.
Starting from Monday June 22, utilities diversion works will be carried out on footpath next to Darwen Vale as part of the Pennine Reach scheme.
The kerb build outs will be removed at the junction of Hector Road and Redvers Road.
It is part of preparation works before further highway improvements will be carried out in the summer holidays.
Traffic will be down to single lane in parts on the A666 near the junction with the M65, there will be no temporary traffic lights needed.
Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Regeneration, said: “The main works will be carried out in the summer to keep disruption to a minimum.”
