Winner of festive recycling guide cash prize announced!

Following the distribution of the festive guide to bin collections and recycling, a winner has been announced for the £500 cash prize.

In December, every household in the borough received a guide to bin collections and recycling ahead of the festive period. Included was the chance to win a huge cash prize, generously given by waste management company Suez.

To be entered into the prize draw, residents simply needed to sign up to receive waste and recycling notifications from us on our dedicated website, Recycle BwD.

One of those who did was Karen Cych from Blackburn, who was chosen as the winner of the £500 prize.

Karen Cych said:

I’ve never won anything before so to win £500 is absolutely amazing.

I’m getting married in 18 months time so the money will go towards planning that.

Councillor Jim Smith, Executive Member for Environment and Communities said:

By simply signing up to receive notifications about recycling and waste from us, Karen has won a huge £500 cash prize.

Recycling is not only good for the planet but can be good for your wallet too!
