The annual Hive Business Awards will be held virtually this week to celebrate the hard work and dedication that local businesses have put in during this challeging year.

The Hive business leaders network, in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Borough Counci, will be recognising businesses that have gone above and beyond at a special event this Thursday, November 26th at 7pm.

This event will be run online and is a celebration of the Blackburn with Darwen community and will give recognition to those employees, businesses and business owners that went the extra mile as the pandemic swept across the country.

An overwhelming number of stories of how businesses have pulled together were received and this event will shine light on the unsung business heroes at the virtual event.

Blackburn born comedian and actor Tez Illyas is hosting the event.

Chairman of HIVE, Ian Brown said:

In these unprecedented times it has been heart-warming to see the communities of Blackburn with Darwen come together to support each other, our key workers and of course our NHS. We were very humbled by the nominations we received and it really shows how we can come together in times of desperate need to support each other.”

We can’t wait to share our local business stories with you so please do register to watch the free event as we recognise those that really have gone that extra mile and more at a time of national crisis.”

Councillor Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:

The Council are proud of the way our community has responded to the situation we find ourselves in. Tonight we are going to recognise some of those businesses and organisations that have creatively meet the needs presented by the pandemic. It is a measure of their strong community ethic that none of them did it for public recognition but were driven by our strong sense of community.

I strongly believe that it is our efforts as a shared community that will see us through the challenges ahead. So from myself, the Council and on behalf of the people of Blackburn with Darwen we give all business both those recognised here tonight and those who are not, our thanks and best wishes as we continue our shared journey to the new normal
