Help to shape the future of development in Blackburn with Darwen by giving your views on the Local Plan Review.
Blackburn with Darwen Council is starting work on a new Local Plan, which will set the borough’s planning strategy right up until 2036.
The council is required to prepare a Local Plan for the borough to guide future development for a period of at least 15 years. The Local Plan will ensure new homes, jobs and services are located in the most sustainable locations, along with the necessary infrastructure and facilities, while also aiming to improve our most valued built and natural assets.
We need your views to help us do this, and there is still time to have a say as the consultation runs until Monday 1 April at 5pm.
You can get involved in the survey in three ways:
- online: blackburn.gov.uk/localplanreview
- email: forwardplanning@blackburn.gov.uk
- post: Local Plan Consultations, Growth Team, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, First Floor, One Cathedral Square, Blackburn, BB1 1FB.
Copies of the consultation documents are available at all Blackburn with Darwen Town Halls and libraries and at The Barlow in Edgworth.
Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Regeneration, said:
We have made really good progress with our Local Plan so far, addressing the needs of the community and building requirements, and setting out where the best places to develop will be.
Getting public feedback to the new ideas and proposals is an essential step in building a plan that works for everyone, providing housing and opportunities for employment and further growth to build on recent positive developments.”
