Upcoming Postal Vote Renewal – Action Required

Published Tuesday 1 July 2025 at 9:15

In line with changes introduced by the Elections Act, all current postal voters who applied for a postal vote before October 31 2023 must renew their postal vote applications by 31 January 2026.

After renewal, your postal vote will remain valid for a maximum of three years, after which a new application will be required.

The Elections Team will soon begin contacting all people that currently have a postal vote:

  • If we hold your email address, you will receive an email inviting you to renew your postal vote online before the deadline.
  • If we do not have your email address, you will receive a renewal invitation by post starting from July 2025.

Renewing online is the quickest and easiest option – visit: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

If you no longer wish to vote by post or proxy in future elections, please email voting@blackburn.gov.uk with your name, address, and a request to remove your postal or proxy vote.

If you wish to be contacted via email in our future communications, please provide your name, address and preferred email address to voting@blackburn.gov.uk
