Time to Talk Day – February 3

Published Monday 31 January 2022 at 9:27

The local Time to Change team, are inviting you to take part in a ‘Brew & Butty’ event on Thursday 3rd February.

Blackburn with Darwen Council will be joining thousands of other groups, schools and members of the public across the country, who will all be having conversations about mental health.

This is an opportunity to host the event in your workplace or with friends and family; to encourage open conversations about mental health whilst having a brew and butty.

Look out for the HARRI bus at Blackburn Town Hall, and a stall at Darwen market where the team will be engaging with residents about mental health.

The HARRI health education bus will also be in Blackburn Town Centre on the same day for mental health signposting support for residents. Please come along and support.

Time to Talk Training is also available through the Lancashire Mind website using the enquiry box https://www.lancashiremind.org.uk/pages/37-blackburn-with-darwen-time-to-change. There are two workshops; the first being how to challenge stigma and discrimination of mental health, and a social contact session, discussing how to have an open conversation around mental health comfortably.

You can make a difference in your community when you take action to change attitudes towards people with mental health problems. Join thousands of campaigners in workplaces, schools, communities and online who are making stigma and discrimination a thing of the past.

Too many people with mental health problems feel isolated, worthless and ashamed. But having conversations about mental health can break down barriers, improve relationships, aid recovery and take the stigma out of something that affects us all.

1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in any given year, but many of us are too afraid to talk about it. Starting a conversation about mental health might seem daunting but simply sending a text, checking in on a friend or sharing something on social media can break the ice.
