Love food and theatre? Then Blackburn Bureau has just the thing for you!
In this original play two actors play all the roles in the story of a busy night in the local curry house. They are also joined by guest chef Yazi, offering a spicy cookery demonstration. This also includes a chance to share food and conversation with the chef and the cast.
Chef Yazi owns a company called Amaali, where she goes into schools and communities and cooks with people to break down cultural barriers and address issues.
The story of The Chef Show centres on father and son Abdul and Kamal on a particularly busy night in their restaurant. As they struggle to deal with all of the customers ‘out front’ and the staff in the kitchen they also have to decide on the future of the family business.
During the performance the actors break out of the story to interact with the guest chef. The actors will become presenters, letting the audience into a light-hearted discussion about food and cookery techniques with the chef and finding out a bit more about them and their working lives.
This is a comedy inspired by interviews with real people working in the ‘Indian’ restaurant trade.
The show will take place at Blackburn Bureau on Sunday, February 12th at 3pm.
So if you wish to come and sink your teeth into something tasty tickets are available here. Tickets range from £9, £7 and £5
