We’d like to thank every single person who shared their incredible King George’s Hall memories as we approach the centenary celebrations this Thursday.

We received over 200 entries to our Facebook competition, asking people to share their favourite moments associated with the Hall to be in with a chance of winning VIP tickets to the 100th birthday bash this Thursday.

Whilst we initially only had 25 x 2 tickets up for grabs, we received that many incredible submissions we had to up the offering to 50 pairs!

Some of our favourite stories include…

Such wonderful happy memories of Line Dancing classes, party’s & gigs & all the friends I made here. 21 years ago this is where I first met Michael Berry, now my husband – I can still remember my chat up line & all those warnings to steer clear but we’ve proved them all wrong!!! We’ll be back here together in Nov rocking away to Aussie Floyd – can’t wait!!
Caroline Berry

My mum went in to labour with me in the Windsor Suite when my mum and dad had a band playing there … Obviously I don’t remember, but it’s a great story!
Natalie Brown

Watching Morrissey with my mum at King George’s Hall back in 2006 which was my first ever music gig at the age of 18 years old, very fond happy memories and an incredible night which will stay with me forever!
Christian Hill

My favourite memory of King George’s Hall was watching my cousin in a singing competition and she won, Search for a star! Brilliant night.
Vicky Taylor

Watching my kids in the Big Sing, Little Sing and School Dance Festival shows. Watching my cousin in the St Augustine’s choir reunion and performing on the Brownie Magic show in about 1987!
Nicci Page

My Uncle Martin went to see Status Quo in 1973. The original line up! He scrambled up on the stage, one or two beers presumably had beforehand, touched Francis Rossi’s leg – then got thrown off stage back into the crowd by a roadie! I now own the ticket!

This month the iconic King George’s Hall turns 100.

One of the key birthday events to mark the occasion is a red carpet party night, happening this Thursday October 21st, to mark the opening of the historic hall exactly 100 years ago.

It will feature music from chart-topping, Blackburn-raised popstar Grace Davies, laughs from Blackburn’s own comedian and TV-personality Tez Ilyas, and a performance from local dance troupe Lancashire Dance Academy, all hosted by the everyone’s favourite weatherman Owain Wyn Evans.

Winners of the competition have won free tickets to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event.

If you entered, be sure to check your notifications – you may have won!
