Blackburn with Darwen Council has joined up with a range of other organisations in Lancashire to create the #noexcuseforabuse campaign.
The campaign has been designed to protect people who are at risk of or who are experiencing domestic abuse by raising awareness of the help and support available to victims and perpetrators as well as highlighting how and where people can report their concerns.
It has been developed in partnership with other councils in the county, Lancashire Police, support agencies, the NHS and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner and is part of the Lancashire Resilience Forum’s countywide response during COVID-19.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and there are things you can do to support the campaign, but more importantly protect those people who are at risk.
Councillor Mustafa Desai, Executive Member for Adult Services, said:
It is not always obvious what a person is suffering behind the scenes. You have to learn to look for the signs.
The coronavirus pandemic has meant that more people have had to stay indoors. This could have potentially led to an increase in negative behaviours within a family or relationship.
If there is someone you know that you believe to be in an abusive relationship, or if you know a child that you think may be suffering, please report it. There is no excuse for abuse.
