Residents are invited to attend flag raising ceremonies in front of Blackburn and Darwen town halls in support of the Armed Forces.
As part of the Borough’s commemorative events to mark this years Armed Forces day on June 27th the Mayor and the Borough’s Armed Forces Champion will lead a short ceremony that will see the armed forces flag raised across Blackburn and Darwen.
Members of the Armed Forces and local school children will also be joining civic dignitaries for the event that will be held on June 22nd at 11am
Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, Councillor Faryad Hussain said “Armed forces day gives all those within the Borough the opportunity to show their support for the Armed Forces and for the work they have undertaken on our behalf.”
Councillor Trevor Maxfield the Borough’s Armed Forces Champion added “The duties the Armed Forces undertake everyday play a major part in all of our lives. Armed forces day gives all people the opportunity to stop and reflect on the role and the sacrifices the men and women of the armed forces make each and every day.”
Councillor Mohammed Khan leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council said “Armed Forces Day is an annual, national campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present”
