Summer activity programme for children in Blackburn with Darwen Libraries

This summer term Blackburn and Darwen Libraries will be hosing fun and exciting craft events based on books by Roald Dahl to keep young ones entertained.

Starting on Friday, July 29 through until Friday August 26, children will be able to craft a whole range of Roald Dahl inspired products from scratch.

Unless otherwise stated, entry to events is by free ticket, which are available from the relevant library up to 3 weeks in advance.

Friday July 29
‘The Giraffe & the Pelly & Me’ – make a giraffe model and monkey mask, age 4 and over.
10.30 – 11.30 am – Mill Hill Library
2 – 3 pm – Roman Road Library

Wednesday August 3
Creepy Crawly Critters – meet real life creepy crawlies, age 5 and over,
tickets 50p, accompanying adults free.
10.30 – 11.30 am – Blackburn Library
2 – 3 pm – Darwen Library

Thursday August 4
‘The Enormous Crocodile’ – make a crocodile crown and puppet, age 4 and over.
10.30 – 11.30 am – Roman Road Library

Friday August 5
‘The Enormous Crocodile’ – make a crocodile crown and puppet, age 4 and over.
10.30 – 11.30 am – Mill Hill Library
2 – 3 pm – Livesey Library

Wednesday August 10
Roald Dahl crafts session – fox finger puppet, peach collage, and various other activities run by the Council’s Sustainable
Neighbourhoods team, age 3 and over. NB. All children should remain accompanied by a parent / guardian at
this event

Thursday August 11
‘The BFG’ – make a dream catcher and giant ears, age 4 and over.

Strictly Come Shakespeare – a tudor dance session, age 5 and over, tickets 50p, accompanying adults free.

‘Old McDonald & the Three Pigs Plus’ – performance by Booster Cushion Theatre, age 3 and over,
tickets: 50p children, £1 adults.

Friday August 26
‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ – make a paper plate fox and fox mask in a craft event, age 4 and over.
