Stay safe and have fun this half term

Half term is here and the weather is looking good with children and adults alike hoping to have a fun break in the borough.

People will no doubt be out and about enjoying the hopefully warm and sunny days and taking part in fun activities around Blackburn with Darwen – so here’s some tips to keep safe and still have a good time over the school holidays.

There are ways we can all keep ourselves and others safe and still have a great time.

The Government has said that it is not imposing local restrictions on Blackburn with Darwen following the recent rise in the new Covid variant, but we all need to keep following the latest advice and guidance on Covid-19 to make sure we all keep the case numbers from rising.

Blackburn with Darwen – as in every other part of England – remains in step 3 of the Government’s roadmap.

Currently that means:

  • Maximum of 30 people can socialise outdoors.
  • Two households or a group of up to six people can mix indoors, including in hospitality settings like pubs.
  • Indoor hospitality has reopened – with social distancing remaining in place.
  • Up to 30 people can attend weddings, receptions, funerals and wakes.
  • Domestic overnight stays including trips to holiday accommodation are allowed for groups of up to 6 or two households.

Activities are taking place across the borough and a few ideas for fun can be found here: http://www.visitblackburn.co.uk/

Councillor Mohammed Khan, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:

Half term is a time for fun and a nice break for children and their families and loved ones, but we do still need to be vigilant and keep ourselves and other people safe.

If we all follow the guidelines people can have a great time without worrying that they are putting themselves at risk.”
