Blackburn Market has recently had its facilities refurbished to a high standard for all who visit.
Four female cubicles and three male cubicles have been totally transformed, with a new baby changing unit upgraded too. The area was opened on Friday, May 24 following a complete refurbishment by the Council’s corporate building team.
This is the first time the toilets have been refurbished since the market opened in 2011 and the market now boasts 62 stalls to eat at or browse around. The opening of the new facilities has been very warmly welcomed by members of the public who visit the market.
The facilities are maintained at least every hour by staff to ensure they are always to a high cleanliness standard. For disabled visitors, there is a stand-alone disabled bathroom on the floor of the market and a disabled changing room within shop mobility.
Martin Eden, Strategic Director of Environment and Operations said:
I’m so glad to see this refurbishment project completed in what is such a busy and thriving destination. We have recently increased the amount of space available for people to remain in the market to enjoy their food and drink and we now have updated facilities to match.
Thank you to the team who worked hard on the refurbishment, while also working on other projects.
I hope people will continue to visit the Market for the vast array of food and products on offer.
