Shop Darwen is a new initiative from Blackburn with Darwen Council that has been designed to help and support independent Darwen town centre businesses, during what is a very challenging time.

We are delighted to announce the first winner of the Shop Darwen monthly prize draw, Mrs Farran!

Mrs Farran has received £50 of vouchers to be redeemed at participating businesses.

You could be in with the chance to win too! All you need to do is spend £5 or more at an business taking part in the Shop Darwen initiative, and you will gain entry to the free prize draw.

You can still enter the draw during lockdown by shopping at essential businesses or ordering online or by phone. All you need to do is request an entry form!

Simply complete the form, take a picture and send to the email address on the form. Hand it back in with your next delivery or pop it in the post box in Darwen market when you visit for your essential purchases.

Mrs Farran, from Darwen, said:

I am delighted to be the first winner. I got my entry form from Deli Carlo, we have amazing cafes and shops in Darwen and I am a proud supporter of them.

I try to buy as much as I can at the Market. I’m going to be spending these at Deli Carlo, the butchers and Woods fruit and veg.

Over 30 participating shops are decorated with Shop Darwen window stickers and posters to help the public identify them as being involved. Organisers were overwhelmed by the number of entries which totalled 1339.
