Older drivers across Lancashire are being invited to take part in free workshops to help keep people safe.

The Travel for Life workshops will host speakers including Lancashire Constabulary, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and road safety professionals.

They will cover: Protecting yourself as a driver, passenger and pedestrian; fitness to drive, advice on prescribed medication and driving, the Drive Safely for Longer training course and information on alternatives to driving in Lancashire.

The workshops are free to residents of Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool, and refreshments & lunch will be provided.

In Lancashire road traffic casualties aged 65 and over represent a high proportion of serious injuries and a higher proportion of fatalities when compared to younger age groups.

Lancashire County Council Safe & Healthy Travel Team, Blackburn with Darwen Council and Lancashire Road Safety Partnership want to ensure services aim to reduce the number and severity of road casualties in this age group, and to increase physical activity levels to help maintain safe and independent mobility.

Two events will take place:

7th March 10am – 2pm: Fylde Rugby Club, Lytham St. Anne’s

14th March 10am – 2pm: Blackburn Rovers

You can register for either of these events online:  www.lancsroadsafety.co.uk/travelforlife
