Community CVS and Blackburn with Darwen Council are working together to celebrate and recognise the hard work, passion and dedication of the borough’s volunteers through the Community Volunteer Awards.

This Valentine’s Day we are launching our search for sponsors who can share the love and support their community by investing in this annual celebration.

Donna Talbot, Membership Development Officer at Community CVS, said:

The Community Volunteer Awards is a fabulous event to get behind. By sponsoring the awards and investing in one of our packages, your organisation becomes associated with some of the borough’s best people as well as showing that you are backing your local community.

Last year’s Community Volunteer Awards were a huge success with over 1,000 individuals and groups nominated, more than ever before in the awards’ history. A wide range of committed volunteers were in attendance, ranging from those who help keep their community clean and tidy to those who offer their time supporting individuals, charities and organisations.

Denise Park, Chief Executive of Blackburn with Darwen Council, said:

The Community Volunteer Awards is an important event in the borough’s calendar. They showcase the wonderful community spirit that we have in Blackburn with Darwen and celebrate those inspirational people who go above and beyond to make the borough a better place. We really value the support of sponsors, which enables us to offer nominees a chance to celebrate and be celebrated.

The 2025 Community Volunteer Awards will be held on Thursday 6 November, hosted by BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver.

Sponsorship packages come with lots of added value including the opportunity to access space on the Council’s digital advertising assets.

As well as offering your organisation the chance to be associated with this inspirational event, all funds raised through sponsorship go towards making sure the event is high quality and a night to remember for everyone nominated.

Among the winners at last year’s Community Volunteer Awards were Blackburn Foodbank, Darwen Community Helpers. Blackburn Museum volunteer Richard Croasdale and the Mill Hill Festival.
