From free pumpkin picking and carving to the first of a new monthly pop-up street market plus live music into the early evening, be sure to head to Blackburn town centre on October 26 for a Saturday Spooktacular!

A full rundown of things to see and do has just been shared on the brand-new Discover Blackburn website – with a packed guide to what’s on right across the town centre.

And there promises to be something for everyone – ghosts and ghouls alike!

Blackburn BID’s ever-popular pumpkin carving event is set to run throughout the day with its very own pumpkin patch in The Mall.

Head there and you can pick a pumpkin for free and carve it with experts on hand… this promises to be ‘fang-tastic’ fun for all the family!

Plus, there’ll be Halloween characters that you can grab a ‘boo-tiful’ selfie with and more fun for your little pumpkins with activities and shows in Blackburn Market, the library and the museum.

The frightening thing is, it’s all free too!

Outside in King William Street, visitors can enjoy the first of its ‘Not Only a Street Market’ – a new monthly pop-up market.

The vibrant market offers a real treat with a blend of fashion, arts and culture all in a colourful, creative space with a curated mix of vintage, retro, art, music and street food.

Lots to get your vampire teeth into!

And, as the night draws in, there’ll be live music in The Drummer’s Arms – recent winners of the prestigious CAMRA Pub of the Year Award.

There, you can watch talented Blackburn singer/songwriter and music producer, Leah Eccles as part of the brand-new ‘Blackburn Gigs’ with Actual Music taking over town centre venues with live music every weekend.

Councillor Quesir Mahmood, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Growth and Development said:

What a great way to end the half-term with this Saturday Spooktacular in Blackburn town centre.

There’s so much going on too – from free fun for families to a night out with friends.

We’re working with venues and partners across the town to pull together events like this so people can come into town and make a real day of it with fantastic food and drink and shopping thrown in too.

There’s lots going on right across the town every weekend – boosted with the brand-new Blackburn Gigs which we are proudly supporting, bringing live music in to town centre venues every weekend.

The new Discover Blackburn website we’ve been developing with Blackburn BID has a full what’s on guide plus lots of inspiration for things to see and do – do check it out when you get chance, there’s lots not to be missed.

On the Discover Blackburn website, you can find out more about leisure and attractions, food and drink, shopping and more – a chance to discover hidden gems and places you may not have visited plus old favourites.

There’s also the full what’s on guide covering everything from King George’s Hall’s packed programme to events at the Cathedral and in venues right across the town centre and beyond.

Catherine Price, Blackburn BID Manager, added:

With the countdown to Christmas fast approaching and the arrival of the fabulous Museum of the Moon at the Cathedral next month, we’re excited to launch the website as a one-stop-shop for residents and visitors to discover all Blackburn has to offer.

First up we have half-term and Halloween and there’s already lots on there for people to take a look at with things to see and do – especially our Saturday Spooktacular.

Of course, we can’t wait for the return of our free pumpkin carving event which is always extremely popular – one of our best events of the year.

And with so much going on across the town, you can make a real day of it too – helping support our many businesses here and having lots of fun along the way.
