Motorists are reminded that one lane will be closed in Railway Road, Darwen from Monday, August 13, 2018 to allow for market re-development works.
The £1.3m Darwen Market Square redevelopment scheme is progressing well and work undertaken so far has been to fill in units under Railway Road in order to strengthen the highway.
There will be a single lane closed on Railway Road starting tomorrow that will be managed with traffic light controls; this will protect the public and workers whilst the work on the highway is carried out. The lane closure will remain in place for up to 4 weeks.
Cllr Phil Riley, Executive Member for Regeneration, said:
We are working very closely with the contractors Eric Wright to minimise disruption to businesses and members of the public, however, there will inevitably be times where this cannot be avoided altogether. Please bear with us at this time.
Cllr Riley added:
We will keep people informed of what will be happening and when; so that alternate routes or plans can be made and you can continue to shop in Darwen as normal. Businesses will remain open as usual, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
