A Darwen community group has been praised for the exceptional work they do to care for their park.
The Friends of Ashton Park formed to help maintain and improve the green space and have completed a number of projects.
Recently, a new seat and picnic bench have been put in after the friends group won funding from Darwen Town Council.
They also undertake regular litter picks and clean-ups.
Councillor Mohammed Khan, leader of the Council, said:
“The friends group do a lot of work to improve the park., They are a superb community group who put in lots of time to make this lovely green area the best it can be. I wish them future success and I hope Blackburn with Darwen Council and the friends group continue to work together.”
Councillor John Roberts, a Marsh House ward councillor, said:
“This is a lovely park and is much loved by local residents. The friends group enhance the park and I want to thank them for their efforts.”
Janet Pearce, the Chair of the Friends group, said:
“We are very passionate and proud of this park and we will keep on working hard to improve the park so residents can enjoy it.”
