People can get on their bike or put their best foot forward at Blackburn with Darwen’s Walking and Cycling Festival.

The events run from July 2 to 8 and there are lots of activities taking place across the borough.

The festival is organised by Blackburn with Darwen’s Council’s re-fresh health and wellbeing service, and kicks off with the launch of the Weaver’s Wheel Cycle Route on Saturday 30.

Other activities include cycling sessions in Witton Park aimed at those who are new to cycling or those who want to build up their confidence on two wheels. Walks are taking place in various locations and there are also Wheely Fit pram push sessions and tai chi.

The full list of activities is online and the festival culminates with a walk to Darwen Tower to celebrate the 10th anniversary of re:fresh. It leaves from Bold Ventures Park at 10.30am on July 8.

People can also find out more about the regular sessions and courses at Witton Park Cycle Centre or activities at the borough’s other leisure centres here.
