People thinking about taking their next steps on the career path are invited to Blackburn with Darwen’s largest ever careers event.
Taking place within Blackburn Cathedral and its beautiful surrounding grounds, it will bring them face to face with prospective employers and educational establishments.
Over 90 employers, businesses, charities, apprenticeship and education providers will be on hand at the event to discuss opportunities for people in the borough.
Businesses across many sectors will be represented from leisure, construction and engineering, I.T, finance, legal, transport, retail, public sector, creative industries, manufacturing, education and training providers to the community and voluntary sector.
The event is an opportunity for people of any age from school leavers to older people seeking employment to come along and find out what exciting careers and learning opportunities are available in the borough.
It is due to take place on Thursday, September 14, from 10am-4pm and can be attended by schools (age 15 upwards), further and higher education students and those not currently engaged in employment, education or training.
A number of short workshops will also be on offer, aiming to support people in the recruitment process, and to raise awareness of the wide range of employment opportunities in specific sectors.
The event has been organised in partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council, Blackburn College, HIVE business network, Cummins Mellor, Northcote, Lancashire Employment and Skills Executive (LESE) Partnership and Organic Insurance.
Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Executive member for Regeneration, Councillor Phil Riley, said:
I would urge as many young people as possible to attend this event. Blackburn with Darwen has a thriving business network and this is a chance to get in front of some of those businesses and make some valuable connections to help kick-start your career or further education.
