Finance teams at the Council are working around the clock to send the Government’s business grants to eligible firms in the borough.
The Council has now paid out 1,838 grants to businesses in the borough which have had to close due to the coronavirus – a total of nearly £21 million.
The number and value of business grants to be paid today – Friday, April 17th – are 261 and £2,760,000 respectively.
We are also working hard to target the eligible businesses that are still to get in touch with the Council.
Councillor Phil Riley, Executive Member for Growth and Development, said:
Our teams are working incredibly hard to make sure every business which is eligible and have submitted the correct information get the funds as quickly as possible.
The teams have been working from before 7am in the morning until after 9pm at night and at weekends to get these payments processed. Their commitment and dedication to the task has been beyond outstanding.
All eligible businesses which have applied and provided the right information will receive their grants shortly – and we urge eligible businesses yet to come forward to make contact with the Council as soon as possible.”
Any businesses that could be qualified for the grants can check by filling out the online form which can be found at: www.blackburn.gov.uk/coronavirus/support-business
