Community group One Voice has announced a special award to be presented at their Annual Dinner.

The Mohammed Khan Leader’s Award will acknowledge and reward an individual or an organisation that has promoted community cohesion through leadership in Blackburn and Darwen.

The award coincides with One Voice’s commitment to community cohesion which the Leader and the 2020 Vision group (part of One Voice) have been developing.

The recipient of the Award will be chosen by Councillor Mohammed Khan. A trophy presentation will take place at the One Voice Annual Dinner on Saturday 27th February 2016, held at Maida Restaurant. The event will also celebrate the organisation’s fifth anniversary.

Speaking about the Award Councillor Khan said:

I am honoured and humbled that this award has been named after me. More importantly though is what the award represents – celebrating leaders in our community who bring people together and make Blackburn with Darwen a better place to live, work and visit. “

Chairman of One Voice Abrar Hussain added:

This special award reinforces the ethos of the 1V Community Champion Awards. With all the passionate work that is put into the community by individuals and organisations for the sole reason of making it a better place, it is important to recognise these efforts.

A strong and vibrant community is created by the people who fully participate in their community. The Mohammed Khan Award reflects those contributions.”
