An empty home has been brought back in to use by Blackburn with Darwen council’s campaign to buy and renovate long-term vacant properties.
The end-terraced house at Mosley Street, Blackburn had been vacant for around 10 years and the Council had received numerous complaints from local residents regarding the property’s state of repair.
Thanks to Mr Faisal Zarif the property is now a habitable two self-contained flats and is now ready to be advertised for sale to the highest bidder through a local firm of Estate Agents.
Faisal Zarif said:
My family has lots of experience of renovating properties in the local area and I am very pleased that this project has been completed successfully to provide living accommodation for local residents and all works carried out at the property were completed by local contractors using locally sourced materials. Members of the local community regularly stop at the property and comment on how the renovation has improved the local area.
Councillor Phil Riley, the Executive Member for Growth and Development added:
It’s great to see another eyesore empty property successfully brought back into use in the borough. The Council is committed to bringing empty properties back into use to improve neighbourhoods and ease the burden on accommodation waiting lists. The action taken contributes to meeting one of the Council’s main priorities by improving housing quality.
