A Darwen nursery school is this month celebrating its 60th Anniversary.

Turncroft Nursery school first opened its doors in 1954 to the town’s children and has not looked back since.

To celebrate this diamond achievement, the staff, toddlers and Governors invite attendees past and present of the nursery school to a special anniversary event on the 21st October which will feature a barbeque, face painting and fireworks.

As part of this celebration the nursery is also looking for anyone who started at the nursery in 1954 to come forward and celebrate with them on this momentous occasion. If you were a original Turncroft attendee, please contact the school on (01254) 701534

Providing outstanding education, family support and pastoral care the dedicated and long serving staff have created an environment within the nursery school that gives the borough’s young people an excellent start in life. Here’s to another 60 brilliant years.

Listen below to hear Mrs Shears (Headteacher) and Mrs Roberts (Longest serving member of Staff, 30 years plus) discuss what this anniversary means to the school, how the school has changed in this time and what the future holds for the nursery.
