Nurseries in Blackburn with Darwen advised to delay wider opening – advice for parents

Published Sunday 7 June 2020 at 11:52

Yesterday, we announced that we’d asked all schools, pre-schools and nurseries to delay wider opening until at least June 22.

This was due to new research showing that the R rate had increased in the North West.

The R rate measures the rate of infection for Covid-19 and is one of the key tests set by Government to deem it safe to open wider.

You can read the full update here.

Many parents contacted us asking for further information about nurseries.

We have now issued guidance to all Early Years settings for them to consider their next steps.

This may mean that some nursery providers choose not to reopen or some may close again.

Please contact your nursery to find out more if they have not yet been in touch.

Any key worker parents or parents of children who need more support, can contact our Early Help and Support team if they need help with childcare.

The team will support you to find alternative provision.

You can email: eydc.team@blackburn.gov.uk

Please send the following information:

  • Parents name
  • Contact details
  • Details about your key worker role
  • Age/s of your child/ren (including DOB/s)
  • The days and times you need care for
  • Area where you live

A member of the team will contact you as soon as possible to help you identify a place.

If you are a key worker and your child is at school, places are still available as have been throughout the lockdown.

Thank-you – we appreciate this is a difficult time for our residents and we are doing everything we can to offer as much support as we can.
